DESCRIPTION:Would you like to volunteer at the Pride Parade Festival 2019? Are you interested to see behind-the-scenes of the most visible LGBTIQ+ event in whole Slovenia? Or maybe you would go to the Pride march anyways\, so why not support the community? \nIf your answer is yes\, we are inviting you to the first coordination meeting of volunteers of the Pride Parade Association\, which will take place on April 26\, 2019 at 18h in Ljubljana offices\, Dunajska 10 in Ljubljana. \nAt the coordination meeting\, we will present the existing structure of volunteers\, together with the coordinator of the volunteering groups. We will also present the possibilities to volunteer with Pride through European Solidarity Corps\, which is this year eligible also for the national volunteers. DESCRIPTION:Dear lesbians\, \nwe are opening again the door of the *Lesbian bar! \nThis time\, in the same way like as the last time\, we will organize performances where will be able to sing and/or dance to your chosen song. The performances will be announced in advance this time too and will be judged by three members of the jury. \nYou can participate by applying HERE! \nATTENTION! It will not be possible to apply at the event. \nInstructions and suggestions: \n\nChoose your favourite song and choreography\nFill out the Contest application\nYou can perform by yourself or in a group\nPrepare your costume and make-up – it’s not obligatory\, but keep in mind that costumography is one of the key elements and jury will not ignore it \nWhen the lights go out\, grab the mic and the stage is yours!\n\nAPPLY HERE\nThe jury will select three finalists who will go on to perform one more time\, and this second performance will determine the winner. You might be one of the finalists so be sure you have two songs prepared! Worst case scenario\, you can perform the other song next time.  We have precious awards prepared for the best performers. \nAPPLY HERE\nAfter the announcement of the winner\, the dance release will take place on the lesbian dance floor with DJ Zlata maturantka aka Niki Lapkovski. \nTimeline: \nHanging out and connecting: 9pm – 11pm \nLipsync and Karaoke Show: 11pm – 1am \nDJ programme: 1am – 3am \nIf you join us at the *Lesbian bar before 10 pm\, you will be awarded with a stamp for the entire night. SUMMARY:A workshop on transformative practices in youth work
DESCRIPTION:As part of this year’s Action day for Change\, the Pride Parade Association invites you to a free workshop intended for everyone who works with groups of young people and encounter hate speech and various forms of acts and behaviours of hatred to marginalized and stigmatized social groups.\n\nIn Slovenia\, young people witness the growing pressures and negative consequences of the various forms of violence that they are experiencing by their peers. Hate speech is one of the most powerful means of discrimination. Especially because it is difficult to define it\, it is\, therefore\, harder to recognize it and often difficult to know how to address it\, so we aim to get to more concrete into the transformative practices of preventing and addressing hate speech at the workshop.\n\n\nThe objectives of the workshop are:\n\n– Introduction to the concept of transformation in the context of youth work\n\n– Learning about the ways in which the phenomenon of hate speech is embedded in wider patterns of social inequality\n\n– Reflecting on how youth work recreates wider social structures\n\n–  Acquiring the skills of transformation as a process that requires time and support.\n\n\n– Getting specific concrete tools of self-reflection\, which will help address the context of hate speech. \nRegistration to the workshop is required HERE \n\nFor more information\, please contact us at info@ljubljanapride.org.

DESCRIPTION:The Pride Parade Asociation invites you to the public event “Transforming Hate Speech”\, on Friday\, March 22\, between 9.30 and 16.00 in the EU House on Dunajska 20\, Ljubljana. \nDuring the event\, we will launch specific tools to offer support and guidance to youth workers for identifying and responding to the occurrence of hate speech when working with young people in Slovenia. \nWe will present a manual that offers an overview of different approaches to identifying\, addressing and transforming hate speech in youth work. We will launch an online platform with additional information on addressing hate speech and present an international pool of trainers in non-formal education\, consisting of people who have experienced hate speech and other forms of violence on the basis of their marginalized identities. \nAfter the introductory presentations\, there will be a panel discussion\, titled “Facing opposition to anti-hate speech in Slovenia”. \nIn the afternoon\, the programme will consist of interactive workshops\, implemented by the international team of trainers who participated in the project. Workshops are intended for everyone working with groups of young people or interested in the topic. We will present methods for recognizing\, addressing and transforming hate speech in youth educational activities. \nPresentations and discussions will be held in Slovene with the possibility of simultaneous translation to English. SUMMARY:A workshop on transformative practices in youth work
DESCRIPTION:The Pride Parade Association invites you to a whole day workshop/mini-training for youth workers\, intended for all of those who work with groups of young people and that encounter hate speech and various forms of hatred towards marginalized and stigmatized social groups in the context of work. \nIn Slovenia\, young people witness the growing pressures and negative consequences of the various forms of violence experienced by their peers. \nHate speech is one of the most powerful means of discrimination\, especially because it is difficult to define it\, and therefore harder to recognize it\, often people do not know how to address it. But even when we take these steps\, the questions remain: How can the occurrence of hate speech be transformed? How to transform the working environment so that there is no hate speech? Where does hate speech come from and what are the reasons for it? We will try to answer these and other questions together. \nThe workshop is a continuation of the previous workshop Transformation of Hate Speech\, conducted by the Pride Parade association. Having been part of the previous workshop is NOT a condition for participation. \nThe basic workshop deals with the identification\, response and transformation of hate speech\, and the follow-up workshop focuses on and deepens into transformational practices concretely. \nThis session is a test run of the workshop\, so we invite everyone who is interested to join us and help us create the best possible workshop for all those who work with young people. \n  \nThe objectives of the workshop are to: \n– Learn about the concept of transformation in the context of youth work; \n– Find out in what ways the phenomenon of hate speech is embedded in wider patterns of social inequality; \n– Reflect on how youth work recreates wider social structures; \n– Acquire transformational skills as a process that requires time and support; \n– Acquire concrete tools of self-reflection\, which will help them address the situations of hate speech. \nRegistration to the workshop is required. DESCRIPTION:We invite you to visit the exhibition Culture of Humiliation\, that aims to inform young people about the negative consequences of bullying and the empowerment of those who are not victims themselves but who have the opportunity to help others in distress. \nThe works of art that will be exhibited belong to the young art activists Antonij Karadzoski and Daniel Arzola\, who use illustrative posters as a tool for transmitting and displaying their own experiences of violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation to a wider audience. \nThe opening of the exhibition will be accompanied by the personal testimony of a person who was bullied based on sexual orientation and sexual identity.

DESCRIPTION:Did you know that more than 40% of LGBTIQ + young people report experiencing violence and/or discrimination based on their sexual orientation/identity? The school is where it happens the most\, the second place is work. Have you seen the experience of schoolmates when they were faced with insulting remarks; failure to respect personal identities/names; verbal or physical attacks; offensive or disrespectful behaviour; threats of disclosure of sexual and/or sexual identity? Or perhaps you are still experiencing bullying at school or mobbing in the workplace? Are they targeting you with hateful comments online? Do you want to talk about these experiences in a safe space through creative approaches? Would you like to persuade other LGBTIQ + young people in a similar situation by sharing their experiences? Do you want to actively engage in violence? \n  \nWe invite everyone who: \n\nidentifies as LGBTIQ +\,\nhas/has had experiences with peer-to-peer violence and online violence\,\nis ready to talk about themselves or express themselves through creative approaches\,\nis ready to participate in 6 shorter workshops (terms and duration to be agreed) between February and June 2019.\n\n  \nJoin creative workshops which will enable you to “talk” about your experiences through creative methods and art\, and persuade other young LGBTIQ + people in a similar situation. \nWe want to create a space with you where we can safely talk about the experience of violence and find different ways to talk about it and present it to the general public. \n  \nAPPLY until 25 January 2019 \nHERE!\nAre you worried that you do not have enough experience with creative methods? \nPrevious experience or artistic expression skills are NOT needed – we support you through workshops! \n  \nWhat we offer: \n\nthe choice between four different artistic areas (illustration\, photography\, poetry and expression through text\, comics/fanzine)\nprofessional support of LGBTIQ + artists\,\npedagogical support of the trainers of Pride Parade association in the process of addressing the experience of violence\,\nthe possibility of exhibiting the works that have been made during the Pride Parade Festival 2019\,\nthe possibility of exhibiting the works in schools and in youth centres around Slovenia\,\nreimbursement of the cost of participating in workshops (travel expenses\, materials\, food).\n\n  \nAPPLY until 25 January 2019 \nHERE!

DESCRIPTION:This time at Pride Connects\, we will have a discussion about trans representation in cinema. Why is the trans community so critical of the majority of movies that cover trans topics? What could be done to improve the situation? The discussion will be moderated by a trans activist and a coordinator of transgender meet-ups at Kvartir\, Verity Ritchie. SUMMARY:Seminar training in Ireland
DESCRIPTION:The team of trainers of Ljubljana’s Pride Parade association is preparing for the first seminar training of youth trainers in Ireland\, where they will learn about transformational practices in youth work in the field of non-violent communication\, restorative justice and transformation of hate speech. The seminar will be held between 9th and 16th December and will bring together trainers from Ireland\, Slovenia\, Scotland and Finland. \nThe seminar will be the first step towards the design of a manual for youth workers in the field of Hate Speech Transformation. \nThe project is part of the strategic partnership and is financed by the Erasmus+ Youth in Action program.

DESCRIPTION:In 2017\, Pride Parade Association carried out extensive research among LGBTIQ+ youth between 16 and 30 years of age. The research was carried out as part of a project of structured dialogue and focused on young people’s experience with violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity. \nRecently\, we published the research results along with other important conclusions in a publication. \nThe publication represent an important step in youth work and youth politics towards proving to relevant stakeholders that LGBTIQ+ youth in Slovenia often live marginalized and precarious lives.
