SUMMARY:A workshop on transformative practices in youth work
DESCRIPTION:The Pride Parade Association invites you to a whole day workshop/mini-training for youth workers\, intended for all of those who work with groups of young people and that encounter hate speech and various forms of hatred towards marginalized and stigmatized social groups in the context of work. \nIn Slovenia\, young people witness the growing pressures and negative consequences of the various forms of violence experienced by their peers. \nHate speech is one of the most powerful means of discrimination\, especially because it is difficult to define it\, and therefore harder to recognize it\, often people do not know how to address it. But even when we take these steps\, the questions remain: How can the occurrence of hate speech be transformed? How to transform the working environment so that there is no hate speech? Where does hate speech come from and what are the reasons for it? We will try to answer these and other questions together. \nThe workshop is a continuation of the previous workshop Transformation of Hate Speech\, conducted by the Pride Parade association. Having been part of the previous workshop is NOT a condition for participation. \nThe basic workshop deals with the identification\, response and transformation of hate speech\, and the follow-up workshop focuses on and deepens into transformational practices concretely. \nThis session is a test run of the workshop\, so we invite everyone who is interested to join us and help us create the best possible workshop for all those who work with young people. \n  \nThe objectives of the workshop are to: \n– Learn about the concept of transformation in the context of youth work; \n– Find out in what ways the phenomenon of hate speech is embedded in wider patterns of social inequality; \n– Reflect on how youth work recreates wider social structures; \n– Acquire transformational skills as a process that requires time and support; \n– Acquire concrete tools of self-reflection\, which will help them address the situations of hate speech. \nRegistration to the workshop is required. Erin speaks about what it’s like to be intersex and proudly shows that it’s ok to be different. \nThe workshop will offer a unique opportunity for participants to learn about intersex issues – who are intersex persons? DESCRIPTION:Did you know that more than 40% of LGBTIQ + young people report experiencing violence and/or discrimination based on their sexual orientation/identity? The school is where it happens the most\, the second place is work. Have you seen the experience of schoolmates when they were faced with insulting remarks; failure to respect personal identities/names; verbal or physical attacks; offensive or disrespectful behaviour; threats of disclosure of sexual and/or sexual identity? Or perhaps you are still experiencing bullying at school or mobbing in the workplace? Are they targeting you with hateful comments online? Do you want to talk about these experiences in a safe space through creative approaches? Would you like to persuade other LGBTIQ + young people in a similar situation by sharing their experiences? Do you want to actively engage in violence? \n  \nWe invite everyone who: \n\nidentifies as LGBTIQ +\,\nhas/has had experiences with peer-to-peer violence and online violence\,\nis ready to talk about themselves or express themselves through creative approaches\,\nis ready to participate in 6 shorter workshops (terms and duration to be agreed) between February and June 2019.\n\n  \nJoin creative workshops which will enable you to “talk” about your experiences through creative methods and art\, and persuade other young LGBTIQ + people in a similar situation. \nWe want to create a space with you where we can safely talk about the experience of violence and find different ways to talk about it and present it to the general public. \n  \nAPPLY until 25 January 2019 \nHERE!\nAre you worried that you do not have enough experience with creative methods? \nPrevious experience or artistic expression skills are NOT needed – we support you through workshops! \n  \nWhat we offer: \n\nthe choice between four different artistic areas (illustration\, photography\, poetry and expression through text\, comics/fanzine)\nprofessional support of LGBTIQ + artists\,\npedagogical support of the trainers of Pride Parade association in the process of addressing the experience of violence\,\nthe possibility of exhibiting the works that have been made during the Pride Parade Festival 2019\,\nthe possibility of exhibiting the works in schools and in youth centres around Slovenia\,\nreimbursement of the cost of participating in workshops (travel expenses\, materials\, food).\n\n  \nAPPLY until 25 January 2019 \nHERE!

DESCRIPTION:This time at Pride Connects\, we will have a discussion about trans representation in cinema. Why is the trans community so critical of the majority of movies that cover trans topics? What could be done to improve the situation? The discussion will be moderated by a trans activist and a coordinator of transgender meet-ups at Kvartir\, Verity Ritchie. It will be held in English. \nAfter the discussion we invite you to join us at the screening of the Girl at Kinodvor at 9.15pm. Girl is a movie about a young trans ballerina that has received a lot of international awards but also a lot of critique from the LGBTIQ+ community for its trans representation. \nWe have a few free tickets for the movie to offer to anyone that joins us at Pride Connects. DESCRIPTION:This time\, we will present you recommendations on how to be a more inclusive organization. \nThe recommendations present the collected knowledge and results of several different projects that took place in 2018. Are you the target of hateful comments online? Do you want to talk about these experiences in a safe space through creative approaches? Would you like to reach out other LGBTIQ + young people who are in a similar position\, by sharing their experiences? Do you want to actively come out against violence? \nSince 2015 Pride Parade Association has been addressing peer violence and violence online through the project Culture of Humiliation. DESCRIPTION:The team of trainers of Ljubljana’s Pride Parade association is preparing for the first seminar training of youth trainers in Ireland\, where they will learn about transformational practices in youth work in the field of non-violent communication\, restorative justice and transformation of hate speech. The seminar will be held between 9th and 16th December and will bring together trainers from Ireland\, Slovenia\, Scotland and Finland. \nThe seminar will be the first step towards the design of a manual for youth workers in the field of Hate Speech Transformation. \nThe project is part of the strategic partnership and is financed by the Erasmus+ Youth in Action program.

DESCRIPTION:In 2017\, Pride Parade Association carried out extensive research among LGBTIQ+ youth between 16 and 30 years of age. The research was carried out as part of a project of structured dialogue and focused on young people’s experience with violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity. \nRecently\, we published the research results along with other important conclusions in a publication. \nThe publication represent an important step in youth work and youth politics towards proving to relevant stakeholders that LGBTIQ+ youth in Slovenia often live marginalized and precarious lives. DESCRIPTION:Free training for youth workers \nAPPLY HERE \nDo you work with groups of young people? \nAre you noticing the use of words\, jokes\, and provocative comments that encourage hatred against certain groups of people? \nHave you ever witnessed a conflict in the group that you didn’t know how to react to or that left you thinking you should have reacted differently? \nAre you having trouble broaching certain difficult or taboo topics without the discussion getting out of hand and turning into reinforcing negative stereotypes about gay people\, Roma people\, feminists etc? \nYoung people in Slovenia report growing distress and negative consequences of different forms of violence they face from their peers. Hate speech is one of the most damaging tools of discrimination\, especially since it’s hard to define and to recognize and even harder to address. Racist\, xenophobic\, homophobic and otherwise discriminatory ideas and opinions are not acceptable – but they are a part of our everyday life. \nSo how to grab hate speech by the horns? \nLjubljana Pride invites you to a one-day training for youth workers and everyone working with groups of young people\, who recognize the presence of hate speech in their work as well as other behaviours that are violent and hateful towards marginalized and stigmatized groups. \nThe goals of the training: \n\nParticipants will learn to differentiate between stereotypes\, prejudices\, discrimination\, hate speech and hate crime.\nParticipants will learn to recognize hate speech and hateful behaviour\, manage it and transform it.\nParticipants will learn about the specific dynamics of hate speech based on homophobia and transphobia.\nParticipants will learn concrete tools to use in their work.\n\nThe training will take place between 9am and 5pm in the space of Ljubljana Pride on Dunajska 10. \nTo join the training\,  apply here \nWelcome youth workers\, youth leaders\, teachers\, and everyone working with groups of young people where hate speech is present. \nFor more information contact us at info@ljubljanapride.org. \nThe training is part of a strategic partnership Outside In – Transforming hate\, which is an ERASMUS+ Youth in Action project\, based in Slovenia\, Ireland\, Finland\, Portugal and Great Britain (Scotland).

DESCRIPTION:V počastitev svetovnega dneva boja proti aidsu\, ki se od leta 1988 obeležuje vsakega prvega decembra\, si bomo ogledale_i film We were here. Film prikazuje nepredstavljiv vpliv aidsa na San Francisco v zgodnjih osemdesetih: “Čeprav se zgodba odvija v San Franciscu\, film We were here tematizira več kot le San Francisco in več kot aids sam po sebi. Prikazuje zmožnost posameznic_kov\, da se odzovejo na situacijo\, in neverjetno moč skupnosti\, da izkaže ljubezen\, sočutje in vztrajnost.” Film je prejel več nagrad in nominacij\, vključno s filmskim festivalom v Sundanceu. \nSe vidimo kmalu. \nS ‘Parada povezuje’ si prizadevamo povezati lokalne LGBTIQ+ mlade\, aktivistke_e in vse\, ki jih zanima politična plat parad ponosa in boji za človekove pravice LGBTIQ+ oseb v Sloveniji in po svetu. Zavedamo se\, da je to\, da se pojavimo kot LGBTIQ+ osebe na ulici\, samo po sebi politično dejanje. In vemo\, da to ni enostavno – zato želimo ustvarjati varen(varnejši) prostor za vse LGBTIQ+ osebe in prostor opolnomočenja. \n(Dogodek bo potekal v angleščini).

SUMMARY:Study visit in Romania
DESCRIPTION:As a part of the Inclusive Erasmus+ Project we are preparing for the next study visit – this time in Romania. Four of our volunteers will spend 6 days in November (4th – 9th) in Bucharest\, together with participants from Portugal\, Finland and Scotland. \nAfter uncovering how to be more inclusive towards people with different religious beliefs\, gender identities\, LGBTIQ+ identities and different (dis)abilities\, this visit will focus on inclusivity towards people coming from non-urban areas and specifically Roma people. During the project\, different romanian associations will present their work and methods.  \nIn the end of the study visit\, the participant group will come up with the set of reccommendations on how to make youth programmes more inclusive towards young Roma people and youth coming from rural areas.
