SUMMARY:Pride connect // Presentation: Inclusive organization - How to?
DESCRIPTION:This time\, we will present you recommendations on how to be a more inclusive organization. \nThe recommendations present the collected knowledge and results of several different projects that took place in 2018. The core of the recommendations was acquired in cooperation with persons who are experiencing certain forms of discrimination through interviews and focus groups. In addition\, we have accumulated a lot of knowledge from study visits in various countries with organizations dealing with various topics and field work of our pool of trainers. \nAfter the presentation\, we will discuss the relevance and usefulness of such recommendations and we will add recommendations from the community. \nWith ‘PRIDE CONNECTS’\, we strive to connect the local LGBTIQ+ youth\, activists\, and all those interested in the political side of Pride(s) and LGBTIQ+ Human Rights Struggles in Slovenia and across the world. We know that being an openly LGBTIQ+ person and walking down any public space is a political act\, and we know it is not easy – so we want to create a safe(r) space for all LGBTIQ+ people and a place of empowerment. \n(The event will be held in Slovenian language)

SUMMARY:Discussion on trans representation in cinema + the movie Girl at Kinodvor
DESCRIPTION:This time at Pride Connects\, we will have a discussion about trans representation in cinema. Why is the trans community so critical of the majority of movies that cover trans topics? What could be done to improve the situation? The discussion will be moderated by a trans activist and a coordinator of transgender meet-ups at Kvartir\, Verity Ritchie. It will be held in English. \nAfter the discussion we invite you to join us at the screening of the Girl at Kinodvor at 9.15pm. Girl is a movie about a young trans ballerina that has received a lot of international awards but also a lot of critique from the LGBTIQ+ community for its trans representation. \nWe have a few free tickets for the movie to offer to anyone that joins us at Pride Connects. If you’d like to reserve a ticket\, write to info@ljubljanapride.org. The ticket you can reserve until Monday 21th of January 2019. \nThe movie will be screened with Slovene subtitles.

SUMMARY:Pride connects // Discussion and screening of the documentary
DESCRIPTION:We invite you for a screening of the documentary She is Beautiful When She’s Angry\, a documentary about the women involved in the second wave feminist movement in the United States. \nAfter the screening\, we invite you to a discussion about feminism nowadays\, in the times of the 3rd feminist wave within the European context. How do we see reproductive rights and sexual violence in Europe today\, and how much has advanced since then? In which ways have the progress of reproductive rights and the fight against sexual violence been inclusive (or not) towards LGBTIQ+ people? And this is just the start! \nJoin us next Tuesday\, 29th of January at 19:00 at Ljubljana Pride office\, Dunajska 10. \n(The event will be held in English language)
