LJUBLJANA PRIDE POOL OF TRAINERS
The Ljubljana Pride Pool of Trainers consists of a team of trained and motivated non-formal education trainers, all of whom come from the LGBTIQ+ community. Their training work is based on methodologies from non-formal education and youth work, while each trainer also brings additional professional qualifications, ranging from social pedagogy to political science and international relations.
In 2017, Ljubljana Pride began investing intensively in the training of trainers from the LGBTIQ+ community, with the aim of empowering them to work within the youth work and education sectors in Slovenia and beyond.
In 2018, we established the first LGBTIQ+ Pool of Trainers in Slovenia, which became one of the organisation’s formal bodies. Members of the Pool co-create and implement the organisation’s educational activities and youth programmes. Many are also active in educational programmes and activities organised by other LGBTIQ+ organisations in Slovenia and internationally.
Specialised areas covered by the Pool of Trainers:
- LGBTIQ+ 101 – workshops and training on the basics of LGBTIQ+ topics.
- Transforming Hate Speech – how to recognise, address and transform hate speech in groups of young people within youth work and education, aimed at youth workers and anyone working with young people.
- Peer Violence – addressing peer violence, including online violence.
- DecontRamination of Hate Speech – using creative approaches to transform hate speech found in graffiti, online spaces and peer communication.
- Inclusive Organisations – training for organisations and collectives on creating inclusive spaces and developing inclusive approaches.
What do we offer?
- Short workshops lasting from 45 minutes to 3 hours,
- Full-day training sessions,
- Multi-stage training programmes consisting of several consecutive full-day or shorter workshops that build on one another,
- Multi-day residential training programmes.

- Young people aged 15–29,
- School classes, including students in the final three years of primary school,
- Youth workers,
- Teachers and other education professionals,
- Trainers, youth leaders and anyone working with groups of young people using educational approaches,

The workshops cover topics including creating safer school environments, addressing hate speech, preventing peer violence, inclusion, sexual orientation and gender identity, volunteering, and human rights.
Join Our Pool of Trainers
Ljubljana Pride invites you to become part of our Pool of Trainers. The Pool consists of a team of trained and motivated non-formal education trainers, all of whom come from the LGBTIQ+ community. Their work is grounded in the methodologies and practices of non-formal education and youth work.
Trainers regularly deliver workshops and training sessions for schools, youth centres, NGOs and other interested stakeholders. They also support multi-day international training programmes, facilitate processes and moderate events organised by Ljubljana Pride.
The Pool’s areas of expertise include:
- LGBTIQ+ topics and LGBTIQ+ volunteering,
- Creating safer spaces,
- Transforming hate speech and anti-racist approaches,
- Addressing peer violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression,
- Supporting and including young people from different marginalised groups through an intersectional approach,
- The concept of inclusive organisations,
- And other topics upon request.

TRAINER PROFILE
- You are an LGBTIQ+ person and/or a person who experiences intersectional discrimination, and have a good understanding of LGBTIQ+ topics.
- You have experience independently preparing and delivering workshops, training sessions, roundtables, group facilitation and similar activities.
- You have the professional knowledge and skills required to deliver these activities, based on the concepts and practices of youth work and non-formal education.
- You can deliver activities in Slovenian and/or English.
- You are willing to work as part of a trainer pair.
TRAINER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing and delivering workshops and training sessions as agreed.
- Preparing a short report after each activity.
- Following the Code of Ethics of the Ljubljana Pride Pool of Trainers.
- Representing Ljubljana Pride and respecting its vision and mission during activities.
- Participating in regular Pool of Trainers meetings.
- Maintaining regular communication with the Ljubljana Pride team, including the Pool Coordinator and Programme Coordinators.
